Saturday 9: Man on the Moon

1. Do you think it was important to send a man to the moon? man_on_the_moon

  • Yes, and I still think its important, because discovery should be our prime mission as a society. Granted, its not as important as universal health care, ending the war in Iraq/Afghanistan, fixing education and unemployment… but important.

2. What is your biggest fear?

  • Johnny Carson always said his biggest fear was running into a doorknob while naked. That’s a good one, but my biggest fear is FAILURE; that fear guides me to the point of avoiding tough decisions and even making bad choices at times.

3. If someone hung a sign around your neck today, what would it say and why?

  • LOSER… because I constantly make bad choices.

4. What is the longest line that you’ve stood in and was it worth it?

  • In May 2008, I stood in line for 8 hours in order to see Senator Obama speak.
  • Yes it was worth it!

5. As the holidays approach, what song are looking forward to hearing again?

  • I love Christmas music… in moderation. Which means, I intentionally avoid it until after Thanksgiving and then pack it away with the decorations after the holidays. I love different songs for different reasons, the one that pops to mind for this question is Grown Up Christmas List – Amy Grant.

6. Whose music do you think is the most important of your generation?

  • Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, REM, Bon Jovi and Vanilla Ice.

7. Do you find it is hard to be kind to strangers? Give an example.

  • Yes and no. I work in Social Services I spend my days seeking avenues that allow people who have made bad choices a way to change the direction of their life. It makes me sad to see people who appear to be willing to trade their kids for a drug. The people I have a hard time feeling compassion for are those who stand at freeway onramps or at the entrance to the Walmart parking lot with their cardboard signs. If they REALLY wanted to work, they could. But they would much rather you  hand them a 20 or a bag of McDonalds and limit their efforts to making a sign.

8. When do usually lose your patience?

  • Question #5

9. Is there a book that you’re dying to see as a movie?
